Fylde Coasters' Racing Teams.
The 'open' teams (as opposed to the 'multibreed') are the teams that are eligible to race at any BFA sanction competition. Open teams consist of 4-6 dogs of any breed. Fylde currently has four open teams. Traditionally, we have a fastest team.. 2nd fastest.. and so on, but this doesn't always mean that the dogs in the slower teams are slower than the dogs in the faster team! Sometimes a fast dog will make room for a height dog so that the team can run faster as a whole. At other times the fastest dog may not be the most reliable so they'll get moved to a lower team where they can have back up in case of a wobble.
Fylde Coasters
Current Seed Time - 19.62
Fastest Ever Time Gained - 17.86 in 2012 at Sutton Fields
Dogs currently racing - Jenson, Paddy, Obi, Dillon, Mylo, Dylan
The Fylde Coasters is our primary team and is usually the fastest team we have racing in any given season. I say fastest team rather than fastest dogs because the fastest dogs don't always make the fastest team! Its the Captains job to work out what combination of dogs will produce the fastest time.
Fylde Rollercoasters
Current Seed Time - 24.39
Fastest Ever Time Gained - 18.94 in 2013 at Larden Green
Dogs currently racing - Indie, Lilly, Obi, Roxy, Toffee, Badger, Mika, Kira
This team is generally a five dog team and can be any mix of the super-fast, the reliable, the steady, the 'likely to have a wobble' and fast 'green' dogs wanting to test their paws in open events. Moreover, its not good for some dogs to run every leg so a five dog team will always give the dogs the opportunity to rest their paws so their fighting fit for the next leg.
Fylde Surfers
Current Seed Time - 22.27
Fastest EverTime Gained - 19.07 in 2011 at Motteram St Andrews
Dogs currently racing - Indie, Lilly, Obi, Roxy, Toffee, Badger, Mika, Kira

Fylde Piers
Current Seed Time -
Fastest Ever Time Gained - 21.54 in 2013 at Larden Green
Due to a change in dogs the Piers are running much faster than they generally have before. Traditionally though, the wonderful Piers might not be the fastest team on record (they're often in the Div 40+ at the champs) but what they lack in speed they more than make up for in enthusiasm. For some dogs the piers will be there first step into open competition while for others it is the place to race before hanging up their harnesses and enjoying retirement. Not all dogs are destined for the top teams though, but the Piers will always provide great racing for reliable dogs.
Fylde Hot Dogs
Current Seed Time - 24.63
Dogs Currently racing - Biggles, Casey, Brooke, Mika
All of the Fylde Coasters love starter racing and all our members help out when we put teams into starter competitions. Technically, starter teams can enter under any name they choose, but our teams normal race as the Fylde Hotdogs, Fylde Beachcombers or Fylde Babies. Though the latter is generally reserved for those times when we have a team of young pups coming through the ranks together!
